And now a poem about the Market.....
Fullarton market
Some one whispered in my ear
About a market down Fullarton way
Can't always believe what you hear
No matter what they say.
...
Thought I'd give it a go
What have I got to lose?
People in the know
said, It sells all - including shoes!
...
Got up early with the alarm
Off and running way cross town
Was all excited as I waved my arm
Goodbye, with the window down.
...
Arrived to see Phil, putting up flags
He ushered us in with a point of his hand
Went thru the gate, didn't need no tags
Waited for him - it all looked grand.
...
Finally - given a space
Next to a guy with oodles of plants
We maneuvered into place
Cast my eye - gave all a glance.
...
It had a good feel
Beginning a beautiful day
Still a bit chilly, no big deal
Gorgeous trees with not much sway.
...
People busy setting up wares
Chatting, unpacking, running around
Tables put up, as they do at fairs
Making sure they're on steady ground.
...
Finally all ready, the sun shines thru
Shimmers off leaves, and lights the trees
Customers coming - as they do
Milling around like busy bees.
...
Men, women, children and dogs
Meandering thru all the stalls
Dogs sniffing at fallen logs
Whilst mum looks at my beautiful shawls.
...
Before you know it, it's time to pack up
Reverse the actions of when we arrived
Maybe there's time for a quick cup
To warm us up, help us revive.
...
With promises to return another day
To repeat the performance - I'll not sully
Phil likes to tease about what I say..
Come rain, hail or shine [hopefully]!!!
